If you get sick

Here, you can learn what to do if you get sick during your studies.

What should I do if I become sick?

 

If you are a student and become so sick that you cannot study at all, you can keep your student aid.

1.

Submit a sickness report the first day of your illness.

If you think you will be well again within a week, you can wait and apply once you are well again.

If you think you will be sick longer than a week, you can apply immediately.

If you cannot apply via My pages (Mina sidor), call the Customer Centre at 0771-524 524 to request a form.

3.

If you are sick for more than 14 days, you must send in a doctor's certificate with information about your illness or injury.

If you have received a paper copy of your doctor's certificate, send the original to Försäkringskassans Inläsningscentral, 839 88 Östersund.

 

 

If you are both working and going to school and become sick, you can receive sickness benefit.

Proceed as follows:

1.  Report your sickness

2. Apply for sickness benefit

You apply on My pages (Mina sidor).

If you think you will be well again within a week, you can wait to apply.

If you think you will be sick longer than a week, you can apply immediately.

If you cannot apply via My pages (Mina sidor), call the Customer Centre at 0771-524 524 to have a form sent to your home.

3. Send in doctor's certificate

If you are sick for more than 7 days, you must send in a doctor's certificate with information about your illness or injury.

In exceptional cases, you can ask your doctor to submit the certificate directly to us electronically.

If you have received a paper copy of your doctor's certificate, send the original to Försäkringskassans Inläsningscentral, 839 88 Östersund.

Once you have applied for sickness benefit this way, the same rules apply for you as for an employed person receiving sickness benefit.

Frequently asked questions

If you had work income before you began studying, you may be entitled to receive sickness benefit from us if you are too sick to continue your studies. You will then receive slightly less than 80 per cent of the income you had before you began studying. Report your sickness to us as usual to receive sickness benefit.

If you have technical issues

If your e-identification does not work or if you have other technical issues, you can get help on our technical support pages. There, you can get assistance from an administrator directly in a web meeting. You are then connected with the administrator, who can see your screen and help you. Web meetings are available during the Customer Centre’s opening hours.

If you have a protected identity, you cannot use all of the e-services found on My pages (Mina sidor). You can instead apply using a paper form.
