Activity grant

Få personlig hjälp att fylla i din blankett av en handläggare.

What is an activity grant?

An activity grant is money you can receive for participating in a labour-market policy programme.

How much can I receive?

If you fulfil the conditions for unemployment insurance, your activity grant is calculated based on the daily benefit from the unemployment insurance fund. If you participate in a programme full time, you can receive a maximum of SEK 680 before tax per day. The days you receive an activity grant will be deducted from the number of days you receive unemployment benefit. If you do not fulfil the conditions for unemployment insurance and are at least 25 years of age, you will receive an activity grant of SEK 223 per day if you participate in a programme full time.

What happens if I work?

If you work one day instead of participating in your programme, you receive no compensation for that day. If you work instead of participating in the programme for part of a day, then your activity grant will be reduced. If you work and still participate in the programme full time, then your activity grant is not reduced.

How it works – step by step

  1. The Public Employment Service refers you to a labour-market policy programme.
  2. After you have been referred, you receive a letter from Försäkringskassan with a calculation of how much money you are entitled to if you participate in the programme. You will normally receive the letter within 14 days after being referred.
  3. To receive money, each month you must fill in the form called Declaration for activity grant. You can fill in the form directly on My pages (Mina sidor) or send in the paper form.
  4. Once a month, you send the form to Försäkringskassans inläsningscentral, 839 88 Östersund.
  5. You will normally receive your money 14 days after the form arrives at Försäkringskassan. The money will be paid to the account number you provided to Försäkringskassan.

What should I do if I become sick?

If you become sick, report your sickness to both Försäkringskassan and the Public Employment Service on the very first day. If the programme is not run by the Public Employment Service, then you must report your sickness to that organisation as well.

What happens if my child becomes sick?

If you must stay home full days to care for a sick child, you can receive activity grant. You receive the activity grant following the same rules that apply for temporary parental benefit.

To receive money while caring for a sick child, you must submit one of the following forms:

Declaration – activity grant/development allowance during temporary care of child (FK6420).

Declaration – activity grant/development allowance during temporary care of child – transfer (FK6422).

If you want to use allotted days in connection with the birth or adoption of a child, send in the following form:

Declaration – activity grant/development allowance in connection with birth/adoption of a child (FK6424).

All of the forms are available here on forsakringskassan.se. They can also be ordered using our service line at phone number 020-524 524.

Special rules apply if your child is at least 12 but not yet 16 years of age. In such cases, you must have a doctor's statement regarding your child's condition. If the time is used for a doctor's visit, it is enough for the doctor to write on your medical care receipt that it was necessary for you to accompany the child. More information on special rules regarding caring for a sick child can be found under the heading Parent – If your child becomes sick.

Forms

Send in the form in good time. Activity grant is normally paid 14 days after the form arrives at Försäkringskassan. If you are having trouble filling in the form, consult the form guide or fill in the form on My pages (Mina sidor).
