Housing supplement
Housing supplement is money you can receive in addition to activity compensation or sickness compensation if you have housing costs.
Am I eligible for housing supplement?
You are eligible for housing supplement if you:
- live in Sweden
- are receiving activity compensation or sickness compensation
- have a low income and housing costs
- are not yet 65 years old If you are 65 years or older and are receiving full old age pension, you instead apply with the Swedish Pensions Agency.
You can also receive housing supplement if you live in Sweden and are receiving some form of disability benefit from another EEA country or Switzerland.
To learn whether you are eligible for housing supplement, you can call us at 0771-524 524. For us to be able to help you, we need information on your housing cost, income and savings. If you are married or have a live-in partner, we need this information for both of you. You should therefore have the information close at hand.
How much money will I get?
How much you can receive depends on how much you pay for your housing and the size of your income. If you are married or have a live-in partner, your spouse’s/partner's income also affects how much you can receive.

How do I apply for housing supplement?
1. Prepare digital documents about your housing
You need to attach copies of documents about your housing when you apply for housing supplement.

3. Disbursement
If you are already receiving activity compensation or sickness compensation, you will receive a decision on housing supplement within no more than 30 days. If we need more information from you or need to further investigate your case, we will contact you.
The money will be paid on the 18th of each month if you are born day 1–15 or the 19th of each month if you are born day 16–31. If the disbursement date is a Saturday, your money will be paid out on Friday. If the disbursement date is a Sunday, your money will be paid out on Monday.
When will the disbursement appear on My pages (Mina sidor)?
On My pages (Mina sidor), you can see the disbursement under Disbursements (Utbetalningar) 14 bank days before the money arrives.
Notify us if anything changes
It is important that you inform us if your income or living situation changes. Notify us as soon as possible, but within no more than 14 days. We can then make sure you receive the right amount of benefit. If you receive too much money, you may be obligated to pay money back later.
