If you are insured in another EU/EEA country, you can receive emergency or planned medical treatment in Sweden. Planned medical treatment means that you travel to Sweden in order to receive treatment.

Sweden has two national contact points for medical care in another EU/EEA country. Försäkringskassan is responsible for providing information to individuals who are insured in Sweden. If you are insured in another EU/EEA country, please contact the other national contact point, namely the National Board of Health and Welfare.

If you are insured in another EU/EEA country and want to seek or have received medical care in Sweden, you are entitled to receive information about rules and rights to receive care in Sweden from the National Board of Health and Welfare. This applies in relation to questions about receiving planned medical treatment in Sweden in the future, as well as questions or opinions on the care received, whether emergency or planned.
