Försäkringskassan’s registration of personal data

Everyone covered by social insurance, i.e. nearly everyone who lives in Sweden and is 16 years of age or older, is in the social insurance registers. This is necessary to enable Försäkringskassan to pay out benefits and allowances such as sickness benefit, parental benefit and child allowance. This brochure provides brief information on the most important personal registers that Försäkringskassan is responsible for and that are used to administer social insurance benefits. The registers are called social insurance registers.  The rules for the registers are found in Chapter 114 of the Social Insurance Code and the Personal Data Act. The brochure also describes your right to receive information on the data Försäkringskassan has stored about you and how you can get inaccurate information corrected.
