Decisions on activity compensation due to illness, injury or disability
Your personal administrative officer will contact you within a week of receiving the application.

Decisions on housing allowance
If we have received all the information we need, it should take at most 30 days to process your application.
It may take longer if we need more information or documents from you or if further investigation of your application is necessary. In this case, we will contact you within a week.
Useful to know
- If you have recently moved, you should check that you are registered in the Population Register at your new address.
- If you live in rented housing, remember to send your tenancy agreement and rent statement together with your application. If you applied for housing allowance before and still live at the same address, you need only send the current rent statement.
- If you live in tenant-owned housing or your own house, remember to send the agreement to let or conveyance deed and a statement of charges. If you have loans, you should send current information about your debt and interest payments. If you live in tenant-owned housing and have applied for housing allowance before, you need only send the current statement of charges. You should also send information about any loans and interest on the loans.
Decisions on parental benefit
If we have received all the information we need, it should take at most 30 days to process your application.
It may take longer if we need more information or documents from you or if further investigation of your application is necessary. In this case, we will contact you within a week.
Useful to know
- Our Internet service for parents is available for you. Here you can plan how you can draw parental benefit and see how many days are left for the child. You can also notify and request parental benefit.
- If you wish to change your parental benefit in any way, you should notify us at the latest by the 15th of the month. You will then be able to receive the correct amount on the next payment occasion.
- Notify parental benefit at the latest on the same day that you wish to receive benefit for. If you want benefit for days before your application, you should state the reason. You can do this under ”Other information” ["Övriga upplysningar"] on the form Request for parental benefit [Begäran om föräldrapenning].
- If you already know how long you are going to be on parental leave, you can submit an application for the whole period at once.
- If it is the first time you are applying for parental benefit or if your wage has changed, you should send a wage statement.

In order to have your application considered, you must send us a doctor’s statement. You should do this as soon as possible. Försäkringskassan cannot investigate whether you are entitled to disability allowance before we have received the statement.

Useful to know
- We need a maternity certificate and a statement from your employer about redeployment before we can decide on whether you can receive pregnancy benefit. You should send these together with your application.
- It will be easier for us to process your application if you describe your work tasks in as much detail as possible. Use an appendix if there is insufficient space on the form.
- If you have several employers, you should state this in the application, even if you are only applying for pregnancy benefit for one employment.

Useful to know
- Make sure that your employer reports you as sick as soon as possible.
- Send in your medical documentation at the same time as you send your certification for sickness benefit.
- Check in particular question 4 of the certification so that you have stated the proportion of sickness benefit you are applying for and have checked that the date is correct. It is also important that you describe in section 3 with your own words the way in which the illness affects your ability to work.
- Write your telephone number on the form in case we need to talk to you. Sometimes, we have to check information.
- If it is the first time you are applying for sickness benefit or if your wage has changed, you should send a copy of your wage statement.
If you are ill for more than 60 days
If you are ill for more than 60 days, you will receive a personal administrative officer.
